Joshua Fitting is a lifelong resident of Adams County with a deep commitment to serving and protecting his community. With over 17 years of combined military and civilian law enforcement experience, he has dedicated his career to ensuring public safety, upholding the law, and fostering strong community relationships. Now, he’s ready to bring that experience and leadership to the role of Adams County Sheriff.
Josh currently serves as a full-time Pennsylvania State Constable , where he plays a critical role in law enforcement and judicial services. His responsibilities include executing warrants, providing courtroom security, and handling prisoner transport , ensuring the justice system operates effectively and safely.
In addition to his civilian law enforcement career, Josh is a Master Sergeant First Class (E-8 NCO) in the U.S. Army Reserve , specializing in Emergency Preparedness . As Pennsylvania’s Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer , he coordinates response efforts to ensure the safety and security of Pennsylvanians during crises. His military service has equipped him with the leadership, discipline, and strategic planning skills necessary to lead the Sheriff’s Office effectively.
Beyond his professional service, Josh is deeply involved in the community. He actively participates in and volunteers with the Adams County Youth Coalition , working to mentor and support young people in the area. His dedication to the next generation reflects his commitment to building a stronger, safer, and more connected community for all residents.
